Who this covers

What is collected

This is a small practice and the data footprint is deliberately small.

• What you send. If you email or call, the practice holds your name, contact details and whatever you chose to put in the message.
• Engagement records. If we go on to work together, the records the engagement requires: correspondence, notes, documents you provide, and billing information.
• The enquiry form. What you type into it — your name, email address, organisation and message — is sent straight to the practice’s email. It is not stored on this website, not added to any mailing list, and not passed to anyone else.
• No tracking. This site carries no analytics, no advertising tags and no cookies. Nobody is watching you read it.

How it is used

• To answer your enquiry and decide whether the practice is the right fit for it
• To deliver an engagement you have entered into, and to bill for it
• To meet professional, tax and legal record-keeping obligations

Your information is not sold, rented, or used to market to you. There is no mailing list unless one is added later, and you would have to ask to be on it.

Confidentiality

Enquiries are treated as confidential whether or not they lead to an engagement. Within a coaching or advisory engagement, what a client says is held in confidence on the terms agreed in the engagement letter — typically themes and progress reported to a sponsor or chair, never content, and never without the client seeing it first.

Who else sees it

Personal information is shared only with service providers the practice needs to operate — email and file hosting, accounting, and professional advisers — each bound to protect it, and only with what they need. It is disclosed otherwise only where the law requires it.

These are, in practice, Google Workspace for email and file storage, the provider that operates the enquiry form on this site, and the practice’s accountant and professional advisers.

Where it is held, and for how long

Information is held in the United States and Canada. Engagement records are kept for seven years after an engagement ends. Enquiries that do not lead to an engagement are deleted within twelve months.

Your rights

You can ask what personal information is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted where there is no legal or professional reason to keep it. Write to bbest@garrettlaneadvisors.com and you will get a reply within thirty days.

Residents of Canada have these rights under PIPEDA; residents of the EU and UK have broader rights under the GDPR, including the right to complain to a supervisory authority.

Changes

If this notice changes, the date at the top changes with it.
